Apply Now to Serve Children, Youth and Families

Human Services is currently accepting applications for members of the Child and Family Services Authority (CFSA) Boards.  Each of the ten CFSAs is governed by a board and is chaired by two Co-Chairs.

By providing a connection to the communities in their region, community-minded people with a sincere interest in the well-being of children and youth will have an opportunity to set objectives and strategic direction for the programs and services offered to families in the region.

It is recognized that significant input and recognition of the needs of Alberta’s Aboriginal communities can only be assured with adequate Aboriginal representation on the boards. Thus, individuals of Aboriginal descent are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Board member skills focus on governance, financial planning, policy development and community engagement within the region. Board members are expected to be available 10-20 hours each month to attend meetings and activities that occur during regular business hours and weekday evenings.

Applicants must demonstrate knowledge or experience relating to:

  • volunteer and professional services provided and available to children and families

  • general principles of governance and/or functions of a board member

  • sensitivity of Aboriginal culture and leadership styles

  • trends and needs impacting children and families in their community

  • active involvement in community activities.

Note

Board members are appointed for a term of up to three years and may be reappointed for additional consecutive terms, subject to review.  Final candidates will be asked to undergo pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory security screening.

There is no salary attached to these positions; members participate on a voluntary basis and receive an honorarium and reimbursement for expenses according to provincial government regulations and policies.
