Bullying Prevention

Thousands of children live in fear of bullying. They suffer from humiliation, poor grades and crushed spirits. A provincial Bullying Prevention Strategy has been developed based on the priorities set out in the Provincial Roundtable on Family Violence and Bullying. This strategy is targeted at preventing and stopping bullying, as well as promoting positive behaviours and attitudes within and between individuals, families and groups.

Led by a cross-ministry prevention of bullying working group, the Bullying Prevention Strategy is a partnership of government departments and community stakeholders that supports children and youth in reaching their potential. Part of the strategy includes a public awareness and education strategy that has included the development of website for children, youth and adults. The goal is to raise awareness of what bullying is, identify what people can do to stop it, and encourage a change in societal attitudes towards bullying.
